When your writing takes a turn for the worse, how do you overcome the desire to stop moving your pen? What keeps you from taking three hours worth of writing and just balling the paper up or just holding down the delete key? Every time my pen hits paper, I eventually start feeling as though my writing is severely inadequate. It keeps me from ever flushing out characters or storylines. I've abandoned entire universes just from this feeling. Novels and poems fall by the wayside like so many sheets of loose-leaf paper. My writing is not a quality I respect.
